These are some of the questions I get asked a lot, so in case they are on your mind, here are the answers....
Are you going to make me throw everything out?
No! It's your stuff and your call on what you do with it. I am there as a sounding board, to talk through the more difficult decisions and to remind you about the goal, what you want the space to be like at the end of the process.
Is my home worse than any other you’ve seen?
I get asked this a lot. The genuine answer is that I don’t really see things as 'good' or 'bad', 'better' or 'worse'. I don’t really have a judgement on how a space looks when I arrive. What I’m interested in is how it is for you now, and what you’d like it to be like. Then we can work out the best way to journey together between those two points.
Also, I don't discuss my clearing clients or their homes. It is a privilege to be invited into someone's home and on their clearing journey with them. It is personal and I keep it private.
What’s your house like?
I love my home. I’d say it’s very 'me'. It’s not interior-designed. It’s not minimalist. It’s a place I feel comfortable and I enjoy being in. It really works for me.
How did you become a declutterer?
About 7 years ago a friend of my mother's approached me and said she needed someone to help her reorganise her home and had decided that I was the woman for the job. I trusted her judgement and accepted the mission. I discovered that she was right and that I loved the work. Then her friends asked me to work for them, and then their friends, and before I knew it, I was a declutterer! Since then my passion has grown and I have built on my knowledge and expertise. In addition, my training and work as a humanistic psychotherapist has allowed me to deepen the ways I work with and support my clearing clients in their process.
